Frequently Asked Questions
What is the goal of Chinese Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese
Medicine?
The goal of Chinese acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine
is to stimulate the healing forces and awaken the inner intelligence of the
body.
Do the acupuncture needles hurt?
Most people feel no pain during a treatment and occaisionally
there is a small "pinchy" feeling that disappears immediately leaving the patient with an overall sense
of well being and deep relaxation. The needles themselves do not draw blood and in contrast with a
standard hypodermic needle they are much thinner (slightly thicker than a human
hair).
Are the needles
sterilized?
We use brand new factory sterilized needles standardized and
certified by government agencies. We dispose of needles after every use.
What conditions does acupuncture
treat?
Acupuncture facilitates the healing process of a wide variety of
conditions relating to blood chemistry, organ deficiencies, structural anomolies, lower back pain,
digestive difficulties, and such common things as allergies, depression and
anxiety.
What is a typical treatment
like?
On arrival, we perform a simple examination involving tongue
and pulse diagnosis along with a basic interview. From there we determine which treatment is
indicated. See our list of Treatments.
How many treatment will I
need?
The number of treatments necessary varies from condition to
condition. Sometimes the effects of the treatments are too subtle to perceive at first, yet after several
treatments, the changes can be quite profound.
Do you take
insurance?
Most insurance companies do carry premium policies which cover
acupuncture. Call your insurance company to verify coverage.
